While the game of one-upmanship is considered a ‘done thing’ in Bollywood, rarely do we come across reports of a top actor endorsing his rivals. Buzz is that Sushant Singh Rajput was keen that Aditya Dutt cast Amit Sadh in 10 Janpath featuring Paresh Rawal and Konkona Sen Sharma.
A source informs that the makers of 10 Janpath had approached Sushant to play the lead protagonist when he was already shooting for Yash Raj Films’ Shuddh Desi Romance. Sushant had already signed Shekhar Kapur’s Paani and was committed to other films among the ones that he was simultaneously shooting – Rajkumar Hirani’s PK and Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
“Though Sushant really liked the subject of 10 Janpath, he couldn’t say yes to it because of date issues. And so he recommended his friend and co-star Amit Sadh for the film. And Amit was eventually signed,” says our source. When contacted, Aditya maintained that he hadn’t personally met Sushant to discuss the project. Amit remained unavailable for comment.
