Our celebrities inspire us to no end, especially when we hear about their love stories and go ‘Aww’ over the cuteness. Some of their love stories have all the trappings of a winsome romantic Bollywood script. Some of them romanced on screen before getting together off-screen while others have made their career in the industry because of their loved ones!
Let’s take a look some of B-Town’s ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodis.’
Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan
Everyone’s heard of their love story. The two were college sweethearts and now, they are the epitome of ‘happily married’ in B-Town. They had their fair share of ups and downs (read a certain Ms Chopra). In the beginning of their romance, Gauri got upset with Shah Rukh and came to Mumbai without informing him. He left everything and came to Mumbai to search her and be reunited with her. That is when he entered the film industry and started his journey to becoming King Khan.
Their intention of getting married was opposed by Gauri’s parents who didn’t want their daughter to marry a struggling actor; who is of a different religion. Eventually they overcame all obstacles and got married and have been married for more than 20 years now.
Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai fell in love while working together in films Umrao Jaan and Dhoom 2. He probably became the luckiest man alive when he got married to the ex-Miss World in 2007. They also worked in other films like Dhai AksharPrem Ke, Guru, Raavan and Sarkar Raj. The couple’s chemistry in Guru and Raavan was much loved by the audiences.
Ajay Devgn and Kajol
Ajay Devgn and Kajol fell in love while working for the film Gundaraj in 1994. They shared excellent chemistry in the romantic comedy Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha in 1998. Their onscreen love was much like their off screen love!
The two have perhaps been the least controversial couple in Bollywood and they have two beautiful children Nyasa and Yug.
Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan
The golden couple of Bollywood, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan got married in 1973, just after Amitabh tasted grand success as the ‘angry young man’ in the smash hit Zanjeer. While Jaya was already an established actress, Amitabh was on the rise to stardom while the two got married.
They are the perfect example for a couple who has been with each other through thick and thin. Whether it was rumors of an affair between Amitabh and Rekha or Amitabh getting seriously injured while filming Coolie or being almost bankrupt in the early 1990s; Jaya stood by him through everything and the two overcame every problem in their lives together and emerged with their heads held high.
Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu
Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu fell hopelessly in love despite having an age difference of 22 years. The couple who have been together for almost 50 years now, got married in 1966 when Saira was only 23.
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor
Neetu Singh met Rishi Kapoor while they were working together in the film Zehrila Insaan, in 1972. She fell head over heels in love with him when she was just 16 years old. The two tied the knot in January 1980 after a much publicised engagement. She later quit films, which was attributed to the rules of Kapoor family but she later dismissed that as a rumour.
The two came back together on screen in 2009 in the film Love Aaj Kal and later were seen in films like Do Dooni Chaar, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Besharam.
Dharmendra and Hema Malini
Theirs is perhaps the most dramatic love story of all the B-Town stories. The He-Man of Bollywood fell in love with the Dream Girl when they were shooting for the super hit film Sholay. It was rumoured that Sanjeev Kumar also tried to woo her but didn’t succeed. They got married in 1980 and have to children, Esha and Ahana.
