At a time when stars stick to one-film-a-year rule, it’s refreshing to watch these youngsters three times this year…
Last year, definitely belonged to Deepika Padukone, with four hits and many awards. And though 2014 has not yet come to an end, we definitely know who made their presence felt on silver screen this year. At a time when everybody is choosing to do a film every year, it is good to see new faces doing more than one film. And mind it, these films are not run-of-the-mill romances. The younger actors are choosing their outings with a lot of care. Some chose to do masala romcom while others stick to their comfort zones. But overall, it’s a win-win situation for the audiences who get to watch their fav stars in almost all genres. Here’s a list of the stars who appeared in at least three movies this year…
Alia Bhatt
From petite teen fashionista in her debut film to feisty soul-searching Delhi girl in Highway, Alia was the shocker of the year – fans and critics alike were floored by her powerful performance in the Imtiaz Ali film. In April, her fresh jodi with Arjun Kapoor in 2 States came as a breeze. Her chemistry with Varun Dhawan once again rocked in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya. Despite being a very predictive story, the movie worked wonders, for which much credit goes to the lead pair. Definitely, the most-watched-for actress in the year ahead…
Sonakshi Sinha
Known as the female Akshay Kumar due to the number of films she does, Sonakshi proved why she deserves this title, this year too. Her year started with Holiday where she played fiery boxer girlfriend to Akshay’s armyman character. Her next in line are with Ajay Devgn (Action Jackson) and Rajinikanth (Lingaa). While Action Jackson, as the name suggests, will have a lot of punches and kicks where she will play one of Ajay’s love interests, it is Lingaa opposite the South superstar which really has her excited. Deepika Padukone’s tryst with Rajini in Kochadaiiyaan could not bring the desired results, but Sonakshi is betting high on Lingaa. Not only her, Rajinikanth too needs a blockbuster after his last movie, a flop.
Shraddha Kapoor
Aashiqui-2 proved to be a sort of re-launch for Shraddha Kapoor in Bollywood, but since then she has not looked back. The actress has been riding high on success. Her Ek Villain opposite Sidharth Malhotra not only got her rave reviews but also placed her in the category of heroines who have more than one `100-cr film in their kitty. Later this year, Shraddha got serious with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider where she romanced Shahid Kapoor. And though she doesn’t have three big films this year, her item number Dance Basanti in Ungli is keeping fans on toes, and on dance floors.
Kangana Ranaut
What a year for Kangana! We all knew that Kangs had something special in her but it didn’t come to the fore as well as it did in Queen. The movie proved to be a game-changer not only for Kangs but also for newbie Lisa Haydon who played her firang dost. While critics lapped up Kangana’s performance, audiences were awed by this stylish lady’s simple Dilliwali kudi avatar. And though Revolver Rani didnt do well at the BO, her chambal ki female daaku character was one-of-a-kind. Her next is with Emraan Hashmi, Ungli. We hope Kangs keeps on choosing such hatke roles in the future, too.
Arjun Kapoor
Arjun Kapoor couldn’t have asked for more. The films not only worked at the box-office but also helped him establish himself as one of the Next Gen actors. While his chemistry with Alia Bhatt in 2 States raised brows and rumours about the two, his bromance with buddy Ranveer Singh generates many aww moments even now, so many months after Gunday. The guy jodi has become so popular that their names have been tossed around for remakes of many two-hero movies (Andaz Apna Apna, Ram Lakhan etc). Arjun also garnered much appreciation for his role in Finding Fanny where he was surrounded by stalwarts of cinema like Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia.
