Boman Irani, who plays one of Shah Rukh Khan’s partners-in-crime in Happy New Year declares that the Farah Khan vehicle has enough potential and scope to go miles. Meaning: a sequel. “Definitely,” Irani asserts, “a sequel should happen. There’s so much that I’m sure the entire team of HNY will agree is left to do and there’s so much we can explore. I can certainly vouch for it.”
Incredibly versatile and one of our most gifted actors, Irani has essayed memorable and influential characters on screen. But rarely has he felt so attached to the film and its star cast as that of HNY’s. For Boman, HNY is not just a film. It’s an experience worth cherishing all his life. And, so he doesn’t want the journey, however tiring it may have been, to end.
“Happy New Year has been a terrific experience. I’ve never promoted any film the way I’m promoting HNY,” he admits. “After doing the SLAM tour across the globe singing, dancing and hosting, we are promoting the film and doing media interviews. Usually, I don’t like doing too many interviews but sharing memories of HNY is quite an enjoyable experience.”
Laughing, he adds, “Being a character actor, I’m not used to shooting for a huge number of days. But I shot for around 180 days for HNY. I felt as if I’m the film’s hero. All actors have been so close and attached now that it feels bad that the journey is ending.”
