Deepika Padukone: Of course, awards matter to me!

While there are some celebs who don’t believe in awards, for Deepika, winning one is a sign of appreciation….

Deepika Padukone swept away almost all the awards last year courtesy her powerful performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. Apart from that, Ms Padukone tasted success with two more films in 2013 – Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. So it wasn’t surprising that Dippy shined at every awards function last year. But if she hadn’t won any award last year she would have been disappointed. Yes, that’s what she said during a media interaction.

When asked about awards, the Bajirao Mastani actress said, “Of course awards matter to me. If I had a year like I had last year and if didn’t win any award I would be very disappointed. So awards do mean a lot no matter what we say that its done for TRP and that its done for television and its rigged. At the end of the day the person who goes up and wins the award feels nice that they won the award.”

Ms Padukone further added, “It is a sign of appreciation and hard work and if you have won so many awards then probably you’re doing something right.”

But then how come eight different actresses are awarded at eight different functions? To this DP cheekily replied, “That is also there but then last year I won all the awards…(smiles).”
