Bollywood comes in full attendance for voting

October 15 was declared a public holiday in Maharashtra for the state assembly elections. While most of Mumbai stayed away from voting, Bollywood was in full force. B-town celebs kept coming in all day through to make their votes count. They even campaigned for it and appealed to general electorate, by putting up their inky pictures on social media.

Shah Rukh Khan whose constituency is Bandra, said he voted for a better Maharashtra. “It’s important for each and everyone to come and cast their votes. To bring change in the country we need to bring changes in ourselves and everybody should come and vote.”

Ranbir Kapoor was equally enthusiastic: “The opinion of the youth matters a lot. I feel it is the youth of India who has to wake up now and they should come, cast their votes and choose their leaders.” Salman Khan was accompanied by brother Arbaaz Khan, mom Salma Khan and dad Salim Khan. The Dabangg star clicked photographs and selfies with the constables on duty at the polling booth. Director Kiran Rao came, minus Aamir Khan. When asked where’s hubby, she said he’s out of town for a shoot. “Before leaving Aamir tried very hard to work some way out and cast his vote. But he missed it. He was sad,” said Kiran who lives in Bandra. In Juhu, Abhishek and Jaya Bachchan were early birds at the polling booth. Absent was the patriarch, Amitabh Bachchan, who was away shooting in Delhi.

Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Javed Akhtar, Hema Malini, Esha Deol and Arjun Kapoor also came to exercise their franchise. Sonam Kapoor walked in with dad Anil Kapoor. “To get power you need to give power. Got inked with my dad,” posted Varun Dhawan on social media, accompanied by a picture showing his inked index finger along with father David Dhawan.

As always, Bollywood stars set a good example.
