Now that Daawat-e-Ishq has come and gone, it’s time to reveal its big secret. Seems Naseeruddin Shah was hastily dropped and quickly replaced by Anupam Kher in the recent Yash Raj film. Reason? Naseer demanded a hefty remuneration.
If Naseer had said ‘Yes’ he’d have been seen playing Pareenita Chopra’s Dad. A source on condition of anonymity says, “Naseeruddin Shah was Yash Raj’s first choice. He showed a keen interest, too. But, all was lost the moment he uttered his price.”
While Anupam did put in a great performance industry watchers say Naseer as Parineeti’s father would have been a masterstroke. Especially because the feisty Pari and the acting legend have never done a film together.
Naseer’s money tantrums remind us of his immortal lines from Maalamaal – Maal hai toh taal hai. From Finding Fanny to not finding money, we are sure Naseer is not finding this funny!
