The Telugu action comedy opened to an overwhelming response toppling Kick to become the highest opening Indian film in US box office
We all know how Salman Khan’s Kick stormed the box office, leaving the nation in frenzy, as it broke various box office records. While one can say without doubt that Dabangg Khan’s action entertainer was this years biggest money spinner, it is a rare feat for a Telugu film to take on Kick and beat it in terms of opening day box office collections.
The last week release, Aagadu, starring Mahesh Babu and Tamannaah has set the cash registers ringing, not only in Indian box office but also in abroad. The latest reports tell us that Mahesh Babu’s tongue in cheek action comedy had raked Rs 3.54 crore at US box office beating Salman Khan’s Kick to become the highest opening Indian film in United States. Aagadu has released in 159 screens across US and has been minting some serious moolah at US box office.
While it was the remake of Telugu movie,Kick, which gave Salman one of the biggest hits of his career, it is only fitting to see a Telugu film overtake Kick in terms of opening day collections in US. With Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year lined up for release, we wonder if Aagadu can hold its record at US box office.
