Deepika Padukone cleavage controversy gets murkier. Here’s what we think!

We were shocked and upset this morning when we read what the leading daily had to say about Deepika Padukone’s final word on the cleavage controversy, that too on the front page of their publication. According to them, Deepika is being a hypocrite and that the whole incident has given her great publicity, perfectly timed with the release of her upcoming film this Diwali. What’s even more cringe-worthy is that, the publication attached along with the letter the actress’s bikini clad photoshoot pictures, trying to defend their position over the issue.

And while we do not expect Ms. Padukone to reply to the open letter, as she had announced on Twitter last week that she rests her with her final point of view, her co-stars, celebrities and fans have now taken the controversy in their stride and are busy slamming the publication left, right and center, and rightly so.

What we think: It’s utter shame and very unprofessional of the tabloid to have responded in this manner. Instead of apologizing, they are now defending themselves, trying hard to justify the piece of baseless news, making it worse with such disgraceful response to a woman. This is not how a respected national newspaper argues. It would be a saving grace if the mistake was acknowledged and an apology rendered. It is her body and her life. No one has the right to comment on it. Yes, she might have clicked pictures for a calender, photoshoot, advertisements, etc, but that was “HER” choice, with her “CONSENT” and that does not give anyone the right to do anything by which anybody would feel offended. On one hand the leading daily talks about women empowerment and protection and on the other hand it posts such videos. Isn’t that hypocrisy right there? They asked Deepika why she reacted to the video after a year, we ask them as to why they re-posted the video after a year?

Well, by all means, Deepika is clearly winning this argument.

Deepika’s letter was so sophisticated and classy, and look at these guys degrading a woman further… Looks like the article has been written with ego and a lot of self-pride. We sincerely hope both the parties lay this murky controversy to rest now.
