They say, action movies are the reason why people still go to theatres. One can watch rom-coms and dramas sitting in the comforts their home theatre. But action films are best enjoyed on the big screen.
In Bollywood, action flicks have always been B-I-G. While megastars like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra gave us memorable action films in the past, new-age stars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar continue to do wonders in this genre. These days, most filmmakers are wired-up to make action. And, no one’s really complaining, especially now that we’ve seen Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor kick some asses in Gunday and most recently, Rani Mukerji in Mardaani.
The latest to join the club are Jay Bhanushali and Akhil Kapur who go all dishoom-dishoom in the upcoming action-packed Desi Kattey.

Jai Ho
Major Jai roars, ravages and rips the raavans with a single blow – you could call him Stallone on steroids. Jai Ho revolves around a war against corruption and injustice. Sallu is seen beating up baddies to pulp with anything from chains to hockey sticks and in one scene, even a pen. Whoever said, the pen is mightier than sword, was right.
Gunday
Chest-baring, bulging biceps, rugged looks and a lot of dishoom-dishoom, Gunday is high on testosterone. Two best friends, homeless and heartless, go on to become Calcutta’s biggest mafia lords. And, fall for the city’s most famous cabaret dancer. The rest is history. The makers bring the action of the 1970s back on screen. Ranveer and Arjun strip topless to flaunt their waxed and oiled chests as they get into some slo-mo action.
Heropanti
An action # stunts feast, Tiger Shroff fights like a big cat. He has limitless flexibility and raw power. Shroff Jr is clearly more comfortable letting his kicks – not his acting – do the talking. High-voltage stunts, death-defying combats are served bloody and unadulterated.
Singham Returns
In the civilized jungle of Mumbai, as promised, native Singham came back to rip the guts of untamed beasts – only, this time round, with more vengeance and loads of raw power. With sculpted muscles, sturdy looks and greater strength, the man with ultimate dum, fakth Bajirao Singham was louder, wilder and a more ferocious man-eater. A knockout act by Ajay Devgn.
Mardaani
Shiver us timbers. An action-packed screenplay, with the hot-blooded Shivani Shivaji Roy confronting danger with great courage, delivering some hard-hitting blows. Her amber-coloured eyes breathe fire when she is packing those punches. Pure adrenaline rush.
Desi Kattey
A week away from release, Desi Kattey, the action drama starring Sunil Shetty, Jay Bhanushali and Akhil Kapur will see some larger-than-life action performances. Flexed muscles, clenched claws, chest of steel and fists of iron, Jay and Akhil are ready to show the baddies the backdoor. What’s more, it brings back Sunil Shetty – the die-hard action star of the 90s.
