The two B-town beauties rocked the Film Festival with their stunning appearances. But out of the two, who emerged as a winner?
That Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor do not share a friendly vibe is no news. So we were indeed looking forward to see an ensemble war between these two warring B-town beauties at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. So who emerged as the winner? Well, let’s decide, round by round…
Round 1
Aishwarya: She was in the news despite not being on the red carpet thanks to her appearance that got postponed due to a delay in her flight. But when the former Miss World finally walked the red carpet at the premiere of Deux Jours, Une Nuit, it was clearly worth the wait. And considering her last year’s fashion faux pas, Aishwarya truly made a comeback and reigned back as the queen. Showing off her sexy lean avatar, Mrs B shut all the critics, who trashed her for her previous flabby appearances. Like every year, Ash chose a Roberto Cavalli creation. The golden strapless fishtail gown was paired with a gold ring. Soft curls and bold red lips finished out her look. She looked drop-dead gorgeous and whoever says otherwise must be kidding.
Sonam: She wowed the international press as she sashayed down the red carpet. The Kapoor gal made a dramatic entrance sporting a classic-cut voluminous black Elie Saab couture gown, as she walked the red carpet for the screening of Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman. The faux bob, Chopard earrings and pink hot lips finished out this dramatic avatar.
The Winner: Aishwarya, without any single doubt. And surely, you will agree with us. She stunned, shocked and surprised us, totally.
Round 2
Aishwarya: For her second outing on the red carpet, the Dhoom:2 babe picked up a white embellished Roberto Cavalli gown. Nude lips, straight hair and bright eyes completed her look. Her outfit was very similar to her earlier appearance, which left us a bit unimpressed. And given to her first appearance, we certainly had a lot of expectations.
Sonam: For her second red carpet appearance, the Bewakoofiyaan actor slipped into a contemporary pale pink Anamika Khanna couture net saree, accessorised with a choker from her mother Sunita Kapoor’s line. A Ferragamo clutch and Jimmy Choo sandals were the icing on the cake. Gorgeous and beautiful, we must say.
The Winner: We’ll give it to Sonam this time, only because the Bachchan bahu played safe and repetitive.
Round 3
Aishwarya: For her final appearance (amfAR gala) at the Cannes Film Festival, Mrs Rai Bachchan picked up a shimmery Armani Privé couture gown. The bold lips, Chopard jewels and turquoise eye make-up added sparks to her look. And this time she indeed lived up to our expectations and made us fall in love with her all over again.
Sonam: She dazzled in a powder-blue Elie Saab gown with a pleated skirt and structured bodice at the Chopard Dinner. A Chopard necklace and Ferragamo clutch finished her look.
The Winner: This one is really hard to pick, but we’ll go for Ash. She really looked like a sparkling angel and as we said, she made us fall in love with her again.
