Earlier we reported that Aanand L. Rai has not only announced a sequel to his rom-com hit Tanu Weds Manu but has also decided to cast Kangna Ranaut in a double role. However, the film which is in its initial stages has already run into trouble as producer of Tanu Weds Manu claims to own the rights of the film.
Co-producer Vinod Bachchan, who holds a share of 51% for the film, revealed that Aanand Rai is just a director and that Tanu Weds Manu is ideally his property and hence, Aanand cannot continue with the film without his permission. The other partner Sanjay Singh, who holds 24.5% along with producer Shailesh Singh who also owns 24.5%, stated that he too was approached by Aanand for a sequel but their meeting was inconclusive and hence a sequel cannot be announced without his consent.
Though Aanand Rai hasn't responded to any of these claims yet, Sanjay Singh claims to have sent a legal notice to Rai regarding this matter.
