Looks like Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh’s electrifying bromance along with Priyanka Chopra’s oomph in their recently released film, Gunday has impressed the masses and…how! Yes, the YRF flick has managed to get the cash registers ringing by earning Rs 16.12 crore on it’s opening day at the domestic box-office. “#Gunday is off to a splendid start at the BO. Does rocking biz on Fri. #Gunday Fri Rs 16.12 cr nett [2800 screens]. India biz only. Fantastic,” trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted. However, the masala entertainer didn’t manage to break the record of Salman Khan’s Jai Ho, which earned Rs 17.55 crore on it’s foremost day.
People have had high expectations from Gunday ever since the trailer of the film was launched. So the opening day collections of this action thriller doesn’t come as a surprise to us. Valentine’s Day, positive word of mouth and critics reviews worked in the favour of Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial venture as the film performed well in almost all the circuits in India, but it was East Punjab that stood out the best, according to boxofficeindia.
Made at a budget of Rs 50 cr, Gunday is likely to have a Rs 45 cr to Rs 50 cr opening weekend as per Adarsh. “As per trends, expecting #Gunday to have a phenomenal Rs 45 cr to Rs 50 cr opening weekend,” Adarsh further tweeted. But will the film be able to enter Rs 100 cr club in it’s first week? Well, all we could do is just wait and watch, hai na?
