Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam fails to find space on small screen

Reportedly, the satellite deal of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Besharam has been cancelled as the film failed to get cash registers ringing at the box office

Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Pallavi Sharda turned out to be a dud at the box office. The film failed to impress the audience and critics alike. As if Besharam’s dry run at the ticket windows was not enough, we now hear the film’s satellite deal has been canned coz of it. Jayantilal Gada, head of Pen India, the agency which acquires satellite rights for Zee’s entertainment channels made it quite clear that the step was taken considering below average box office performance of Besharam.

While talking to a leading daily, Gada said, “We are using the exit clause to return the film to Reliance Entertainment (the producers). We had a negative clause too in the contract according to which the buying price will be reduced if the film did not earn a ballpark figure. The reason for the exit is the film’s box-office performance which is well below expectations.”

While Ranbir flew to US to get over the fact that film didn’t fare well, we wonder what he’ll do now. For starters, he shouldn’t work with Abhinav for a while, hai na?
