Mahabharat first trailer: Does India’s most expensive animation film live up to the expectations?

Jayantilal Gada’s starry Mahabharat‘s first trailer is out and here’s what you get…

Amitabh Bahchchan, Vidya Balan, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpai, Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher – India’s most expensive multi-starrer animation film Mahabharat has a whole lot of talented Bollywood actors but what it lacks is the quality as far as the animation goes. The idea to have Bollywood’s popular faces as characters from this mythological epic is novel. Big B as Bhishma, Sunny as Bheem, Vidya as Draupadi, Manoj as Yudhistir, Ajay Devgn as Arjun, Anil Kapoor as Karna, Jackie Shroff as Duryodhan and Anupam Kher in Shakuni’s role is perfect, these animated characters are not replicas of these actors instead only their strong characteristics come across.

But wouldn’t it be nicer to catch some of these characters animated expressions onscreen rather than just their voice modulation? The film is no match to Delhi Safary that released last year or then even Ramayana the epic. We certainly hope that the makers will have something new to offer in animation than just ample dose of Bollywood stars. BollywoodLifers, tell us, how do you like the new Mahabharat?
