Everyday we hear of at least one new name in Bollywood. This glam industry has too many opportunities to offer but finding one is where the task lies. Some people are born lucky and some just work their backs off to make it big. Some Bollywood actors have had humble beginnings on Television before they made it big in the film industry. Here’s a list of those actors who moved from’ ‘small screen’ to ‘silver screen’.


Manish Paul


Manish Paul He is multi-talented and you cannot deny it. He began his career as a TV actor and then went on to become a Video Jockey and then a brilliant host and then a stand up comedian and now? Bollywood’s newest debutant. How cool is he!! His first film Mickey Virus released in October and although the film didn’t do well, Manish managed to grab eyeballs for his acting. One can vouch for the fact that this guy will do great in Bollywood.


Yami Gautam


Yami Gautam Yami Gautam starred in the hit film Vicky Donor where she played a Bengali opposite new comer Ayushmann Khurana. She, too, began her career with Television. She did two daily soaps and a lot of commercials. Her best commercial is the ‘Fair & Lovely’ one. She acted in a lot of regional language films and has a couple of Bollywood films up her sleeve. We look forward to see this pretty damsel take us all by storm!!


Ayushmann Khurana


Ayushmann Khurana Best known as MTV India’s VJ, Ayushmann has hosted n number of shows. He also acted in a daily soap before he was offered Vicky Donor. This film totally changed his career graph. He has acted in Nautanki Saala. He has some more films coming up next year. What sets him apart from his contemporaries is the fact that he is also a singer. He sang some soothing songs in both his films and has a single of his own as well. Bravo!!


Sushant Singh Rajput


Sushant Singh Rajput This handsome hunk is just 27 years old and less than a year old in Bollywood. He had a very humble beginning in the TV industry and has done just two daily shows and two reality shows before entering this industry. His first film Kai Po Che earned him very good reviews and he was termed as a promising new comer in B’twon. His next film Shuddh Desi Romance ereleased just months after his first and this time opposite Parineeti Chopra. Good start, boy!


Prachi Desai


Prachi Desai She was just 18 when her first daily show went on air. She is pretty and she knows it. Her good looks and her brilliant acting skills caught the attention of the makers of the film Rock On!! in the year 2008 and that too, opposite the Farhan Akhtar. This was Farhan’s first film too. Prachi Desai never looked back after tasting success in this field. She has a couple of films to her credit including Life Partner, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Bol Bachchan, I, Me Aur Main and Policegiri. And in all these films the lady has acted with big names of the industry. Lucky woman!!


Vidya Balan


Vidya Balan One doesn’t really have to say much about her. She is Vidya Balan and that speaks volumes about her. Bollywood takes great pride in this beautifully talented lady. Her super hit films include Parineeta, Ishqiya, The Dirty Picture, Kahaani etc. However, Vidya’s journey to fame started with Television. Her first, most popular and only show that was aired on TV was Hum Paanch in 1995. In the show, Vidya donned the avatar of a nerd with huge spectacles and an innocent girl. And today? She’s THE big thing in Bollywood.


Shahrukh Khan


Shahrukh Khan King Khan also started his career with Television. He did four TV shows before entering Bollywood. Today he is a big name in Bollywood and done over 50 films. Well, 50, too, is a small number! What made him a household name before Bollywood was his TV serial Fauji. He was noticed for his good looks and acting abilities and he bagged a role in the film Deewana. Not just this, Shahrukh Khan has acted in close to 5 television shows before films happened. We didn’t know that!!!
