The showman Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts celebrates its 36th anniversary today and he is celebrating the event with a havan where the invitees are close friends and relatives and some industry-buddies. Ghai, who is busy directing his next film Kaanchi, announced at the havan that three new films that are going to be produced under the Mukta Arts banner.
Ishq De Maare is a family drama starring the three Deols: Dharmendra, Bobby and Sunny. The second one is a biopic based on Sarabjit and is directed by Ishwar Singh Muchhal. The third movie is Idiot Nalayak Useless, directed by Ken Ghosh.
Talking about the three films, Ghai said “We have a very healthy and good story bank so we thought of going into productions in a bigger way by announcing three films on this anniversary. First is Ishq De Maare with Deols, which is about father and two sons, a social family comedy. It’s about a bonded family with conservative attitudes but despite that they ultimately fall for three different girls and how they can’t express their love to the family. Filled with funny situations, Ishq De Maare is a beautiful film in a typical Hrishikesh Mukherji style. Neeraj Pathak, who wrote Pardes and Apne Apne, has directed it. He’s very nice and good filmmaker.”
“Second film is on Sarabjit. When I heard this subject it touched me so much that I at once decided to tell the story. It’s again a Biopic film after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Because the people accepted Bhaag Milkha Bhaag so it further affirmed my belief that people love biopics also, provided it’s presented sincerely and brilliantly. We even contacted Sarabjit’s sister and she was fine with it. Though our script is on, our cast is still being finalized. We have a wish list of having three heroes with three heroines. But we are still in the process and within 30 days it will finalized.”
“While the third film Idiot Nalayak Useless, will make you smile directed by a young talented filmmaker like Ken Ghosh. Though Ken is ready with the film to hit the floors, he is in the casting process.”
The showman then concludes by saying “36 years has to be an exciting journey for filmmaker. Firstly I could stay that long, so the show is on. Secondly, I have seen lot of highs and lows. I have made 18 films, 14 big hits and 4 didn’t work. I also witnessed the high and lows when my films flopped or were huge hits, when there was a vacuum. So I am immune to all those kind of things- write-off and welcome by media, the breaks and make-ups. But I am glad that in 36 years I could create a platform like Whistling Woods for the next-gen. I have done something for my society and nation that is my very big satisfaction more than my film was hit or not.”
