We all know Ram Gopal Varma is honest and not just any honest, he is blandly honest. He does not fear a single person in this big wide world and likes to speak his heart out and when the media is not interested, he takes to Twitter and gets everyone’s attention. He has fans and they will listen to him and sympathize and empathize with him as and when required.
Back in 2010, My Name is Khan released and took the world by a storm. Everyone was awed by what Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Karan Johar did. In a very simple, subtle way they spoke out loud and clear that every not every Khan is a terrorist and we should seriously stop generalizing and stereotyping the entire sect! Prejudice towards our own kin is what breaking us apart and we must stop it at all costs.
Everything was going peachy and rosy for the team of My Name is Khan until Ram Gopal Varma decided to screw it up. Was he jealous? Was he insane? Or was he bored? Whatever it was, he wasn’t in the right state of his mind because he tweeted this..!! “I want to remake Raavan and I want to request Mani to remake Aag. I got a better idea.. I will make My Name Is Raavan and Mani should make Raavan Ki Kurbaan,”
Wow. Taking a dig at both of Karan’s movies at once? That’s too much Ramu, don’t you think? But again, he doesn’t care. Well, let me remind you Ramu, BOTH Kurbaan and My Name is Khan are and were SO much better than Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. Oh! Wait, were you spoofing Sholay with your Aag? Hmph!
Like we all know, old habits die hard and Ram Gopal Varma loves and I mean it when I say loves, to take a dig at Karan Johar. Poor guy! But don’t you worry, Karan Johar is always ready with an equally nasty come back and then right there starts a little tiny weeny Twitter battle of words.
It was a fine day, everyone was celebrating Teachers Day. Ram Gopal Varma, as usual had to be the party pooper. So he tweets “If someone takes off from Karan Johar’s Student of the year and makes Teacher of the Year, it will become the Disaster of the Year,” . I’m beginning to believe that Ram Gopal Varma doesn’t play nice and loves getting his hands, name, reputation and whatever he can, dirty!
Like I said, Karan Johar is fast and spontaneous. Pat comes the reply “Disaster of the Year is your territory Ramu (RGV)…no one can ever replace the comfortable place you have made for yourself there.” . By this point I was snickering and snorting and people around me were wondering what’s wrong with me! I was enjoying thoroughly and I thought like all good things even the spat had come to an end.
But Ram Gopal Varma always wants to have the last laugh! He explains or rather clarifies his earlier tweet. “Hey Karan, my tweet was in a series I put on Teacher’s Day and that tweet was about someone taking off from you meaning it a compliment,”
Tsk tsk Ramu! Give up the nasty behaviour already! It’s getting dull and boring.
