Shahid Kapoor’s last three films Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, Teri Meri Kahaani and Mausam were disasters and now, the actor badly needs a bounce back film. That is perhaps the reason why he has hopes pinned on his next film R…Rajkumar, directed by Prabhu Deva.
When asked if this is Shahid Kapoor’s revival film, Prabhu Deva says “Reviving a career isn’t something that anyone can do. It is my work to make a film. I direct and also choreograph. I know I can do it well. However, there are so many other factors that go into making a film which is well received by the audience and is a commercially successful venture too. You don’t make a film thinking that it is going to revive someone’s career.”
One can only wonder if he really thinks he can’t revive careers, as he revived Salman’s career with the hit movie Wanted and gave Akshay Kumar his biggest grosser till date (Rowdy Rathore).
“Still, the responsibility factor is not due to your past work but the present when a producer and an actor believe in you,” adds Prabhu Dheva who is working with Viki Rajani, Sunil Lulla and Shahid Kapoor for the first time ever, “Trust me, if today Shahid wishes to work with someone, there would be ten producers waiting for him. People love him.”
Shahid has been facing a lot of failure in the recent years. When this is pointed out, Prabhu Deva defends and says “It is common for every actor. Ups and downs are usual in everyone’s career. Some films work and some don’t. It is a matter of that one correct film working for all involved.”
Will R…Rajkumar be one such film for Shahid Kapoor?
