Akshay Kumar has a soft-corner for father-son bonding in films. The last time the action-king did a father-son drama was Waqt:The Race Against Time, where Amitabh Bachchan and Kumar played the roles of a father and a son. Akshay and Big B shared a good bonding even off-screen and now, Mithun Chakraborthy is playing the role of Akshay Kumar’s father in the forthcoming movie Boss.
Reportedly, Mithun da was the first and the only choice for that role in the movie.
“In fact the father-son emotion is what connects the film,” agrees Anthony D’Souza, the film’s director, “Akshay as well as Mithun really loved that part since it is inherent to the film. As a filmmaker, I was reminded of Akshay’s WAQT which was so strong in its emotional context. The script worked around that beautifully and once Akshay gave it a go ahead, it was a double whammy to see Mithun immediately coming on board as well.”
“Mithunda plays Akshay’s father in BOSS and there is a very strong unspoken bond between the two. In fact it is their relationship which forms a pivotal part in BOSS, something which has not been brought to the fore yet. Though they have worked together in the past as well, BOSS would have something truly heart-warming in the offering,” informs a source.
Let’s see if the combination of the two makes the movie a crowd-puller. The movie releases on October 16.
