Recently at a pub where Subhash Ghai was hosting a party, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were among the invitees. Obviously when there are so many celebs, there will be media who want to capture them with their cameras. So when some photographers called out to Aishwarya; mom-in-law Jaya snapped at them for addressing her bahu as ‘Aishwarya’.
It happened around 10.30 pm when the two ladies passed by a group of photographers who called out to Aishwarya to pose for them. But what they got was verbal-bashing from Jaya.
It didn’t go down well with Jaya that her daughter-in-law was referred to by her first name. She turned around and shrieked: “Kya Aishwarya Aishwarya bula rahe ho, tumhare class mein padhti thi kya? (Why are you calling her Aishwarya? Was she your classmate?)
While the photographers remained shocked, Aishwarya maintained a straight-face and the two ladies left the scene.
Later, one photographer who didn’t want his identity to be revealed, said, “What else does one call her? Sometime ago, Abhishek Bachchan too had screamed at us for referring to his wife as Ash telling us that her name is Aishwarya and not Ash. Do they expect us to call her Mrs Bachchan?”
