‘Bodyguard’ close to ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’—Salman

At a time when fans and moviegoers are eagerly awaiting the release of ‘Bodyguard’, the hero of the film, Salman Khan added to their anxiety by stating that the film is somewhere close to his 1989’s much-loved romantic flick ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’.

Superstar Salman, who will be seen romancing Kareena Kapoor in the film, in an exclusive conversation with TOI, stated that his soon-to-be released romantic-action flick is very special as it is an extraordinary love story.
Talking about his upcoming movie ‘Bodyguard’, Salman, as quoted in TOI, said, "Bodyguard is special, because apart from all the action, the comedy and the music; the love story is beautiful. It is a different kind of love story. It has not been seen before. I love it.
“All the macho men; the stud kind of guys are going to come out with khushi ke ansoon. If you consider Maine Pyar Kiya as an innocent love story, Bodyguard is somewhere close to that.''
Salman speaks about ideal bodyguard’s qualities
Meanwhile, Salman, who plays Kareena’s bodyguard in the film, during the conversation with the tabloids, got candid about the qualities of a bodyguard.
Talking about what makes one an ideal bodyguard, the actor said that anyone who is trustworthy, honest and courteous can become a bodyguard.
"If you are loyal, respectful and sincere, you can be a bodyguard. I don't make a show of being anything that I am not,'' Sallu told TOI.
Though the film has Kareena Kapoor playing the female lead, Salman’s ex-flame Katrina will also be seen doing a cameo in it.
When asked whose bodyguard he is, the ‘Dabangg’ star stated that he is both, Kareena and Katrina’s bodyguard.
Salman: festive season is about watching an entertaining film
There has been a special connection between Eid and Salman’s films. Apparently, the actor has always preferred to release his films at the time of Eid, as he believes the occasion to be lucky for his ventures.
However, Salman recently stated that he cherishes both the Hindu as well as Muslim festivals and feels that any film released during the festive season should be entertaining.
Salman told TOI, "The media and the trade say that Eid and Salman have become synonymous, etc. I don't think like that. This time Eid and Ganpati are likely to be on the same day. I'm more excited about that.
“Hindu-Muslim revelry is something I cherish. If I bring a film that doesn't do it for my audience in a festival season, then it will not work. No one is going to see a film unless a promo excites them.
“The festive season is all about watching a purely entertaining film. If the promo is boring or ridiculous, then the audience will not come to see my film whether it is Eid, Ganpati or Diwali. You have to excite your audience."
