Pranayam actress Apoorva Bose rescued from Kashmir floods!

While our film stars have been praying for the well being of the poor lives stuck in J&K floods, the Mollywood actress recounts her spine chilling tale of rescue after experiencing the wrath of the floods

The recent floods in Kashmir have affected 32 million lives as the armed forces are battling to rescue as many lives as they can. The social media is flooded with prayers for those who are stuck in the flooded valley. Admist all the commotion, we bring you an incredible rescue tale of Pranayam actress Apoorva Bose who was stranded in Srinagar and was airlifted from her hotel by the army.

The Mollywood actress had gone on a trekking trip to Sonamarg and on her way back she got stranded in flood hit Srinagar. “It was my first trip to the Himalayas, and I went as part of a Mumbai-based trekking group. There were seven of us from Kochi, but all older than me, in their 30s. We went trekking in a hill station named Sonamarg, which is 12,000 feet above Srinagar. It is not supposed to snow there but it did heavily, and we got stranded in the snow; all roads were blocked. We had to travel on foot, and for five days we were walking all day” said Apoorva to a leading news daily.

“It was crazy; there were no mobile signals, and you never know what is there under the snow you are walking on, there could be water. Finally, we came across an army cordon and they helped us reach Srinagar. But as we reached the place, we sensed something was wrong. The water levels on either side of the bridge were unusually high and people were panicking. The driver told us right then that in a day’s time there would be floods but we didn’t believe him, we will be gone before that, we thought” added the Malayalam actress.

“We stayed in a two-storeyed homestay that night but around 12 midnight, the landlady woke us up and said we have to move to another hotel, as the water levels were rising. It was a low-lying area close to the water. But we were casual about it then, since the landlady went back to the place. Our flight was in the morning and we were about to leave but in a span of just an hour, the water levels shot up and there were floods everywhere. Later we learnt that the homestay had collapsed; we still have no news about the landlady. We spent the next three days in the hotel. It was a luxury hotel but water had reached till the third floor and there was no food or water. Again there was no mobile signal and we survived on the leftover food packets from the trekking trip,” said Apoorva recounting her trauma.

“We would slice a badam into two and have it for breakfast, have just one sip of water all day. There were 12 of us, including some sightseeing groups and yes, we thought it was all over. The water wasn’t receding as the glaciers were melting in the sun. Finally, an army helicopter found us and we were airlifted and taken to a point near the airport from where we reached Chandigarh in a defence aircraft. All of us are in reasonably good health, and my family and friends are relieved after nearly 10 days, but no, I don’t want any more adventure in the near future. We go crazy at the sight of food now. But we are still awaiting news of three girls and seven guys who were with us,” signed off the Malarvaadi Arts Club star.

This riveting tale of rescue once again proves that immense effort put by the Indian army is worthy of all the praise and applause that it has been receiving from our worried celebs.
