PIL filed against makers of Finding Fanny for use of vulgar word Fanny

Homi Adajania's next venture Finding Fanny will be releasing this weekend, however the film seems to have run into yet another obstacle. Earlier we had reported that the makers of the film had a tryst with the censor board over the use of the word 'virginity' in a dialogue, now we hear that an NGO Jai Jagriti Foundation has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with the Delhi High Court seeking a ban on the release of the film.

According to the PIL filed lawyer Abhishek Krishna on Tuesday, on behalf of Nandini Tiwari and the Jai Jagriti Foundation, the vulgar word "fanny" is a slang and should be removed from the movie, its songs, posters and banners. Further stating that the dictionary meaning of the word "fanny" was highly sexually explicit, and using the word in the movie will hurt the feelings of the citizens of India, especially minor children.

Apart from this, the plea also challenged the UA certificate given to Finding Fanny, while seeking a ban on the release of the film. Interestingly, while Finding Fanny releases on Friday September 12, the plea would come up for hearing later today before a division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S Endlaw.
